Eddie Ricardo
BJJ Black Belt • World Champion • International Coach & Mentor
Eddie Ricardo is a highly respected Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, world champion, and head instructor at Cobra BJJ in Plano, Texas. Known for his technical precision, powerful leadership, and heart for teaching, Eddie has spent over three decades dedicating his life to martial arts—and to helping others grow through it.
A native of Brazil, Eddie began his martial arts journey at just four years old, starting with Karate and eventually training in Judo, Capoeira, Boxing, Wrestling, and Muay Thai. But it was Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that captured his soul. Alongside his brother, Eder, Eddie discovered that BJJ was the most complete and honest martial art—a system that demanded results, not talk.
At age 12, Eddie moved to the U.S., where he later trained for over 10 years under the legendary Master Carlos Machado and received his black belt in 2007. He has also trained under former UFC Heavyweight Champion Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira, and currently represents Checkmat under Master Léo Vieira—one of the most respected teams in the world.
Eddie's competitive resume is elite. He is the 2015 IBJJF No-Gi World Champion (Super Heavyweight – Master 1) and has traveled the world winning major titles and competing at the highest levels. His gold medals span prestigious international events, including championships in the U.S., Europe, and Asia.
